A Math Teacher who Writes (or a Writer who DOES MATH). Charles Bukowski said: "I write because I don't know what I think until I read what I say" Seems like a perfectly fine rationale to me.

Things that bug me in an algebra class:
1. Heavy, hard bound books with a million colors and problems
2. Endless review of past arithmetic problems
3. 20+ problems of the SAME thing for homework
4. Surprise problems on tests
5. Skills without clear explanations of concepts
6. Ugly math classrooms!
7. The idea that only some people can learn algebra, the rest are destined to suffer it.
8. Adults who love to say how they are bad @ algebra
But I love the students! Even if they don't actually "love" algebra yet, they will.
